Just some Etsy finds.

Friday night I wandered to 16th street mall here in Denver to see the Art Stir.
There were so many wonderful artists! I knew I had to buy a print of something from somewhere for the new art wall I am planning on starting!
I chose a beautiful print by Kevin Eslinger
Isn't she beautiful?! She's my dark side.

After I purchased this all I have been doing is looking at new art prints on Etsy!

Hyperrealist at its finest

I was browsing through Thisiscolossal.com and saw a post about Ron Mueck's hyperrealist sculptures.
p.s. Ron Mueck also does the voice of Ludo from the movie Labyrinth!
Anywho, he does these these sculptures that look exactly like people and I mean exactly. The detail put into them is just amazing.

I would love to see his work in person.

Sketches & Flowers

How beautiful are these photographs/sketches?!

Kari Herer is a photographer based in Portland Maine (p.s. Portland Maine is somewhere near the top of my list to visit!)  who photographs portraits, weddings, and some advertising. However, I am so in love with her prints.
The way she pairs up the animal sketches with animals is perfect.
I'm not a bug person but the bugs are fantastic, I would love a huge print of it in my apartment!

You can look at more of Kari Herer's work at her website or buy prints from etsy

Mixed Media lovin.

Throughout my blog I will discuss a certain medium in which I am interested in, research, discuss, and then try something new myself within that medium.

I have always had a love with mixed media and creating art with different elements of mediums. You can create so many different and interesting things by combining all of these things. I feel as though it's the ultimate creativity. I am currently working on a body of work where I am applying three different mediums into my work. The hardest part of Mixed Media is how are these things going to react within one another and how are they going to as a concept as well.

This amazing body of work has just stolen my heart.
Carne Griffiths is a UK artist that works with ink, tea, and alcohol.
I love all of the color within his pieces of work, the low saturation of the colors too is also very appealing to me. Not only does he have a large array of colors, he also has a lot of details within his work with lines and form. He uses different objects within his work such as flowers and what appears to me as feathers.
Griffiths studies different elements within his work such as form of human and geometric shape (Griffiths) He discribes his work as "dreamlike" (Griffiths) He uses alcohol in his work because it gives the color a different affect rather than water would. (Lauren) This is a great example as to how working with mixed media can affect your work in many different ways. I feel as though it's a lot of trial and error.

His etsy page has some pretty affordable work as well. Espeically his postcards where you can get a  variety of his pieces of work.

My goal for this blog is to expand my knowledge and motivation on art and creativity.
